The Los Angeles Police Department partnered with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last week for “Battle of the Badges”, a blood donation competition between five police stations under the LAPD’s Operations West Bureau.
The competition was held between personnel from the Wilshire, Hollywood, Olympic, West Los Angeles and Pacific divisions. The Hollywood Division won the competition, with 57 donations, followed by the Pacific Division, with 43 donors. The Wilshire Division came in third, with 34 donors, followed by the Olympic Division with 21 donors and the West Los Angeles Division with 20 donors.
The winning station will receive a catered lunch. Shawn Wittmier, supervisor of blood donor services for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, said plans call for the Battle of the Badges to become an annual event.
