Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Division shot and killed an armed suspect who stabbed a victim on Sept. 12 in a residence in the 9300 block of Warbler Way in the Hollywood Hills.
LAPD spokeswoman Rosario Cervantes said police received a call around 9:35 p.m. about a male suspect who entered a house on Warbler Way and stabbed an occupant during a struggle. The victim fended off the attacker and called police.
Officers arrived and located the suspect still inside the residence, armed with a knife. The suspect did not comply with officers’ commands to drop the weapon and an officer shot the suspect, Cervantes said. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The victim sustained serious injuries but received medical treatment and is expected to survive.
The suspect was identified as Jonathan Farkhondehpour, 37. Police said the suspect was acting erratically and was likely under the influence. Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner toxicology reports are pending.
The incident is under investigation by the LAPD’s Force Investigation Division, which is standard procedure in all officer-involved shooting cases.
