Police are searching for the driver of a white vehicle that struck and injured two pedestrians on Sept. 1 on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.

The collision occurred around 2 a.m. as the pedestrians – one male and the other female – were crossing Sunset Boulevard just east of Gower Street, outside of a marked crosswalk, said Detective D. Holmes, of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division. The pedestrians sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized. The driver fled east on Sunset Boulevard before making a right turn and heading south on Van Ness Avenue.

Holmes said multiple witnesses stayed at the scene, rendered help to the victims and spoke with officers. The victims are expected to survive, he said. A driver with a dash camera captured footage of the suspect’s vehicle and provided it to investigators. However, detectives were unable to clearly see the license plate. They are searching for additional security cameras in the area and are asking anyone else who saw the collision to call police.

“There were several witnesses out there,” Holmes said. “[The driver] knew they hit someone.”

The vehicle was described as a white Kia K4, possibly a 2025 model. Anyone with information is urged to call the LAPD’s West Traffic Division at (213)473-0216.
