Big Sunday recently held its seventh annual “Books ‘N Brunch” event in late September with hundreds of people of all ages helping to sort, categorize and box over 10,000 books for donation to schools, afterschool programs, shelters and hospitals. Organizations that received the books included Assistance League of Los Angeles, Saban Community Clinic, A Place Called Home and the Department of Children and Family Services’ Shelter Care Program. Big Sunday, based at 6111 Melrose Ave., has hundreds of opportunities for people to help throughout the year and is always seeking volunteers. For information, visit bigsunday.org.
