Beverly Hills Police Department officers responded to a false emergency report at Beverly Hills High School on Feb. 15. The school was placed on a brief lockdown until officers determined no emergency occurred, a BHPD alert stated.
“There is no evidence of any emergency,” BHUSD Superinten-dent Dr. Michael Bregy stated. “Everyone is safe. The school day is proceeding as normal. Media helicopters are expected. Counselors are available if students need support.”
BHPD Capt. Giovanni Trejo said that officers arrived on scene minutes after receiving a “swatting” call, which is a false report of an emergency. Officers coordinated with school security to clear the campus, Trejo added.
“I understand that this was a scary incident, but it was a true testament to the procedures we have in place. Our staff and students locked down the campus instantly and BHPD worked hand in hand with us to ensure everyone’s safety,” Bregy stated.
