The Los Angeles Zoo invites visitors to enjoy a musical performance, food, fun activities and after-hours access of the zoo on Fridays, July 22 and 29, from 6-9 p.m.
As the sun goes down, the zoo will come alive with a family dance party and games, bars, food trucks and more. Guests can roam the entire grounds to experience zoo life at dusk.
The family-friendly event is open to all ages. A night of soul, R&B and funk will be presented on July 22 with Wayne Vaughn and Three Generations of Groove, featuring Wanda Vaughn of the Grammy award-winning R&B group, The Emotions.
In addition to founding Three Generations of Groove, Wayne Vaughn is a noted writer, producer and performer who has worked with artists such as Lionel Richie, Patti Labelle, Stevie Wonder, Brian McKnight and Earth, Wind & Fire. Wanda Vaughn and The Emotions also achieved a megahit with “Best of My Love” in partnership with Earth, Wind & Fire’s Maurice White.
The Los Angeles Zoo is planning a similar Friday night celebration on July 29 with the Brobots, a high-energy rock band from Los Angeles. The event will also include food, activities and after-hours access to the zoo.
Admission is $25 per adult 18 and older; $20 per child 2-17 and $15 for members. Carousel rides, food and beverages will be available for purchase. The Los Angeles Zoo is located at 5333 Zoo Drive. For information, visit lazoo.org.
