The Writers Guild of America held a large rally on June 21 in the Fairfax District as its strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers stretched into its eighth week. The WGA was flanked by members from other unions, including the Directors Guild of America, SAG-AFTRA, the Teamsters and IATSE.

The picketers began their march at Pan Pacific Park and took to the streets. Blocking traffic, thousands walked to a rally, held in the park at the La Brea Tar Pits on Wilshire Boulevard.

The WGA Strike started on May 2. SAG-AFTRA members authorized a strike on June 5 if satisfactory negotiations are not reached with the AMPTP by June 30. The DGA, by contrast, brokered a tentative deal with the AMPTP that achieved many of the goals the WGA is currently seeking to resolve, including protections against the use of artificial intelligence and proportional residuals for streaming content.
