The city of West Hollywood is holding its eighth annual clothing drive for the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Youth Services program in January.
Many young LGBT people at the center do not have warm winter clothing and professional apparel for job interviews and employment. The center is in greatest need of jackets, coats and ponchos, hoodies, sweatshirts and pants, new packages of socks and underwear, new travel-sized hygiene items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, feminine products, shaving items, etc.), and snack bars (granola). Dress pants, shirts, suits, belts, ties and blazers are particularly needed. Donations are requested of clothing in all sizes.
The city of West Hollywood will accept items from Monday, Jan. 13, through Tuesday, Jan. 21, in collection bins in the City Hall courtyard, 8300 Santa Monica Blvd. Gift cards, preferably in $5 denominations, can be left with staff members in the city’s Strategic Initiatives Division at City Hall. Donors are asked to write the dollar value on the gift cards, Validated parking for West Hollywood City Hall is available in the automated parking garage behind City Hall, on Sweetzer Avenue south of Santa Monica Boulevard. There is also a loading area available for quick drop-offs.
