The Hollywood Queer Short Film Festival has added two cash awards ahead of its Oct. 2-4 festival at the Hudson Theater in Hollywood.
The new categories will recognize Best Use of Music and Best Film Featuring Older Adults. They join previously funded awards for Most Sex-Positive Film and Sweetest Themed Film.
“We hope to continue adding prizes right up to festival time,” Festival Director Jim Hoffman said. “I think we’re going to have an interesting collection of awards that will be of great interest to our audiences and to our filmmakers.”
Dr. Edward Salm and John Hagman are sponsoring the Best Use of Music award, while Steve Green and Roger Edwards are funding the Best Film Featuring Older Adults award.
Green said the latter category is intended to increase the visibility of older LGBTQ people on screen.
The Hollywood Queer Short Film Festival will run Oct. 2-4 at the Hudson Theater, 6539 Santa Monica Blvd.
