The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles will open its 48th season on Dec. 12-13 with “A Very Dolly Holiday,” launching a three-concert series at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills that continues through June 2027.
Nearly 200 chorus members will perform under the direction of Artistic Director Ernest H. Harrison. The season follows GMCLA’s August European tour, which included performances connected with WorldPride Amsterdam and concerts in London.
“A Very Dolly Holiday” will celebrate the music of the late Dolly Parton alongside traditional holiday selections. The program will include Parton songs such as “Coat of Many Colors,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” “Islands in the Stream,” “Hard Candy Christmas” and a new version of “9 to 5.”
Holiday selections will include “Happy Xmas,” “O Holy Night,” “The Christmas Song,” “Where Are You Christmas?” and “Let It Snow.”
“We begin our 48th year on an extraordinary high, returning home from a tremendously successful European tour and unforgettable performances in Amsterdam and London,” GMCLA Executive Director and Producer Lou Spisto said.
The season continues March 20-21, 2027, with “Rock Gods & Anthems,” a program built around music associated with prominent rock and pop performers. Featured artists include Queen, Journey, Tina Turner, Prince, Heart, Aerosmith, Alanis Morissette, Selena, Phil Collins and Little Richard.
Scheduled selections include “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Dream On,” “Proud Mary,” “Purple Rain,” “Barracuda,” “Love Shack,” “We Will Rock You,” “Under Pressure” and “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.” The concert will also highlight connections between rock music, individuality and LGBTQ+ expression.
GMCLA will conclude the season June 26-27, 2027, with its Pride concert, “Thank You for Being a Friend.” Inspired by “The Golden Girls,” the program will center on friendship, chosen family and community.
The concert will feature the television series’ theme song along with music heard in the show and selections including “For Good,” “Seasons of Love,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “Stand by Me,” “We Are Family,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” “You’re My Best Friend” and “Home.”
GMCLA’s European tour included a performance at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw as part of WorldPride activities. The chorus later traveled to London for performances at St. Paul’s Church in Covent Garden, where benefit concerts supported the Terrence Higgins Trust.
Three-concert subscription packages are $390 and are available at GMCLA.org/Season. Single tickets for “A Very Dolly Holiday” go on sale at a later date.
The Saban Theatre is located at 8440 Wilshire Blvd.
