Beverly Hills High School has launched the fourth year of its Career Academy with 52 students participating in a program that introduces them to career opportunities through partnerships with six Beverly Hills hotels.
Students took part in the academy’s first hotel rotation of the school year on Sept. 16, visiting The Beverly Hilton, Beverly Wilshire, L’Ermitage Beverly Hills, The Maybourne Beverly Hills, The Peninsula Beverly Hills and Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills.
The rotations introduce students to careers within hotel operations, including business, finance, engineering, culinary arts, marketing, communications, event production and hospitality. Students meet industry professionals and learn how different departments work together in professional settings.
“Beverly Hills is home to extraordinary people and institutions, and one of its greatest strengths is their willingness to invest in our students,” Beverly Hills Unified School District Board of Education President Judy Manouchehri said. “Career Academy turns those community relationships into opportunities our students could not experience in a traditional classroom. Our hotel partners are opening doors, sharing their expertise and showing our students firsthand what excellence looks like.”
In addition to visiting hotels, students participate in monthly workshops at Beverly Hills High School led by Career Academy partners. Topics include résumé building, developing a professional brand and preparing for college and job interviews.
“Career Academy gives students the chance to discover careers they may never have known existed,” BHUSD Career Education Coordinator Cindy Dubin said. “When they can speak directly with professionals, walk through these environments and understand how different departments work together, careers become tangible. Students begin to see possibilities for themselves.”
The Career Academy is designed to expose students to professions and workplace environments while helping them develop career-readiness skills.
