The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority is working in Beverly Hills, Century City and Westwood on the D Line Subway Extension Project.
Final street paving is planned in late September around the Wilshire/La Cienega Station, which opened in May. Construction continues at the Beverly Drive Station in Beverly Hills and the Century City Station, which are scheduled to open next spring. Work is also ongoing at the Westwood/UCLA Station and Westwood/VA Hospital Station, which are planned to open in fall 2027.
Wilshire Boulevard may be reduced to one lane in each direction between La Cienega Boulevard and Stanley Drive during the final weekend of the month, Sept. 26-27. Intermittent access to side streets will be maintained and driveway access on Wilshire Boulevard may be impacted during the work. Updates will be provided closer to the start of the repaving project.
Civil restoration continues in September on the north and south sides of Wilshire Boulevard between Stanley Drive and San Vicente Boulevard. Curb ramp replacement is occurring on the northwest and southwest corners of La Cienega and Wilshire boulevards. Signed pedestrian detours will be implemented when work is ongoing.
Crews are working underground and at street level on the Beverly Drive Station. Through Friday, Sept. 18, crews are planting new trees along the south side of Wilshire Boulevard between El Camino and Crescent drives. Work hours are 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Intermittent closures of at least one eastbound traffic lane on Wilshire Boulevard will be implemented from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. between El Camino and Crescent drives. The northbound curb lane and one through lane on Beverly Drive will be closed from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. from Wilshire Boulevard to the alley south of Wilshire Boulevard. Lane closures will also be implemented on south Reeves and Cañon drives. Utility work is also planned on Sept. 10 on Wilshire Boulevard between South Beverly Drive and the AKA alley.
Crews are installing a new 12-inch water line at the Century City Station from Monday, Sept. 14, through Friday, Oct. 16. The pipe is being installed along Avenue of the Stars just north and south of Constellation Boulevard. Noise generating work will occur from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; overnight work will run from 9 p.m.-4 a.m. A southbound lane on the west side of Avenue of the Stars will be closed at the intersection of Constellation Boulevard and the westbound left turn pocket will be closed to Constellation Boulevard. The Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel will remain accessible from northbound Ave of the Stars and from Century Park West to eastbound Constellation Boulevard.
At the Westwood/UCLA Station, drilling for an elevator at the southeast station entrance continues through Oct. 2. Eastbound Wilshire Boulevard will be closed overnight between Gayley Avenue and Westwood Boulevard, Monday-Friday from 9 p.m.-6 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m.-3 p.m. All westbound lanes will remain open. Eastbound traffic will be diverted to Santa Monica Boulevard via Sepulveda Boulevard or Veteran Avenue and back to Wilshire Boulevard via Westwood Boulevard.
At the Westwood/VA Hospital Station, Bonsall Avenue restoration continues through Oct. 25. The work requires lane reductions and alternating ramp closures to and from Wilshire Boulevard. One lane will remain open in both directions on Bonsall Avenue. Access to the West Los Angeles VA Hospital Campus is maintained through the south gate on Sawtelle Boulevard and Ohio Avenue.
