Subway construction and street repair work on Metro’s D Line Subway Extension Project is ongoing along Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills near the Wilshire/La Cienega and Beverly Drive stations.
The first segment of the subway project is open between Wilshire/La Cienega and Union Station. Crews are completing street repairs and repaving the neighborhood around the Wilshire/La Cienega. Final repaving on Wilshire Boulevard near La Cienega Boulevard is scheduled on Sept. 26-27. Wilshire Boulevard may be reduced to one lane in each direction between La Cienega Boulevard and Stanley Drive. Intermittent access to side streets will be maintained and driveway access on Wilshire Boulevard may be impacted during the work. Additionally, Wilshire Boulevard may be intermittently reduced to a single lane in each direction between San Vicente and La Cienega boulevards from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., weekdays; 7 a.m.-6 p.m., weekends.
Crews are also completing civil restoration on the north and south sides of Wilshire Boulevard between Stanley Drive and San Vicente Boulevard, replacing curb ramps at the northwest and southwest corners of La Cienega and Wilshire boulevards. Signed pedestrian detours will be implemented when work is ongoing.
Farther west at the Beverly Drive Station, crews are working on the underground station and at street level. K-rail enclosures remain in place in September along the north and south curb lanes on Wilshire Boulevard to support ongoing station construction and street restoration. Two lanes of traffic are maintained along Wilshire Boulevard in each direction between Beverly and Crescent drives. Sidewalk closures may be in place in the area.
Through Sept. 18, crews are restoring the sidewalk curbs on the southeast and southwest corners of Elm Drive and Wilshire Boulevard. Flaggers will direct traffic around the construction work, which runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
New trees are being planted along the south side of Wilshire Boulevard between El Camino and Crescent drives through Sept. 18. Work hours are 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Intermittent closures of at least one eastbound traffic lane on Wilshire Boulevard will be implemented from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. between El Camino and Crescent drives.
Work is ongoing at the Century City Station. Placement of structural concrete for the station is complete and crews are working on the roof and appendage structures, which are underground rooms and passageways adjacent to the main station. The Beverly Drive and Century City stations are located on the second segment of the subway extension project, which is scheduled to open next spring.
