Lipton Coins, Fine Art & Antiques opened a showroom in Beverly Hills, expanding longtime coin dealer Kevin Lipton’s business to include fine art, antiques, jewelry and other collectibles.
The business held a grand opening on Sept. 16 attended by more than 400 guests. The showroom is now open to the public after Lipton spent decades primarily conducting business-to-business transactions.
Among the items on display are Tiffany lamps valued at more than $1 million, an Augustus Saint-Gaudens “Victory” bronze statue, a painting by Winston Churchill and rare U.S. currency, including a unique note from West Hollywood.
“It was a thrill sharing my treasures with so many friends at our grand opening. After dealing almost exclusively business to business for the last 50-plus years, it will be a joy to share my passion for collecting with the people of Beverly Hills,” Lipton said.
Lipton began his career in numismatics as a teenager and established his own firm at age 17. He has operated in Beverly Hills for 41 years, according to the company.
During his career, Lipton has handled numerous notable U.S. coins and currency pieces. Transactions include a $3.29 million purchase of an 1804 U.S. silver dollar and a $2.585 million acquisition of a rare 1792 experimental one-cent piece. He received the Professional Numismatists Guild’s Sol Kaplan Award in 2000 and its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
The expanded business evaluates, authenticates, buys and sells rare coins and currency, fine art, Tiffany Studios lighting and decorative arts, American and European art glass, estate jewelry, diamonds, watches, antique silver, photography and precious-metal bullion.
Recent transactions include the sale of a unique 1783 Nova Constellatio proof set for $10 million, a 1794 Flowing Hair silver dollar for $8 million and a Garrett-Partrick 1792 Birch Cent for $5 million.
“These are incredibly historically important things as well as beautifully artistic things,” Lipton said of the collectibles handled by the firm.
The business also offers online evaluations and in-person consultations.
Lipton Coins, Fine Art & Antiques is located at 9478 W. Olympic Blvd., first floor. The showroom is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with evening and weekend appointments available. For information, call (310)939-9399 or visit lcfaa.com.
