The Queen of Country’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is being replaced after someone damaged the surface. A fan noticed damage to the late country and pop icon Dolly Parton’s star and posted photographs on Instagram. The Hollywood Historic Trust and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which oversees the Walk of Fame, immediately began repairs.

“A fan went to the star [on Aug. 31] and reported on social that the star was vandalized with many scratches. From the photo she posted, it does appear the star was vandalized with scratches,” said Ana Martinez, senior vice president media and talent relations for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. “The flowers had been removed in order to do the scheduled repair on the star. The repairs are currently ongoing and are done by the Hollywood Historic Trust, which maintains and repairs the Walk of Fame stars. The star will cure and will be polished for fans to enjoy [on Sept. 4].”

Parton died on Aug. 25, 2026, at the age of 80. The California State Legislature subsequently passed a measure to recognize Sept. 25 as Dolly Parton Day, with date selected as a nod to her iconic song and film “9 to 5.”

Flowers, candles and messages for the iconic singer were placed around her star at 6712 Hollywood Blvd. Parton was honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Recording category on June 14, 1984.
