Beverly Hills Public Works Director Shana Epstein will retire from the department and public service on Oct. 9 after nearly a decade leading the city’s Public Works Department. Epstein will become CEO of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce effective Oct. 12.
Epstein has served as public works director since 2017, overseeing more than 200 employees responsible for Beverly Hills’ infrastructure, utilities and other municipal services. Before joining the city, Epstein served as general manager of Ventura Water.
“On behalf of the City Council and Beverly Hills community, I’d like to thank Shana for her outstanding leadership in Beverly Hills and for a lifetime of public service,” City Manager Ryan Gohlich said. “Under Shana’s watch, the legendary landscape and infrastructure of Beverly Hills have remained world-class, and the department has been a leader in sustainability, conservation and municipal services.”
Epstein reflected on her tenure with the city and thanked colleagues, elected officials and residents.
Gohlich is expected to announce plans for filling the public works director position in the coming weeks.
