Beverly Hills commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with its annual remembrance ceremony on Sept. 11 at the Beverly Hills 9/11 Memorial Garden.
The ceremony was held at the memorial adjacent to Beverly Hills Fire Station 1 at 445 N. Rexford Drive. The city’s annual observance honors the 2,977 people killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, as well as first responders and others who assisted in the aftermath.
The Beverly Hills 9/11 Memorial Garden was dedicated on Sept. 11, 2011, the 10th anniversary of the attacks. Its centerpiece is a steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center site. The memorial also includes elements representing the World Trade Center, Pentagon and crash site near Shanksville.
The Beverly Hills memorial has hosted annual remembrance ceremonies since its dedication. Traditional elements of the observance included a color guard, bagpipes, a wreath laying, bell ringing, the playing of taps and a performance by the Beverly Hills High School Madrigal Singers.
The memorial garden is open daily from sunrise to sunset at 445 N. Rexford Drive. For information, visit beverlyhills911memorial.org.
