David Anthony Burke, the 21 singer known as D4vd, will be arraigned on Aug. 31 for the alleged murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Burke is accused of murdering and dismembering Rivas-Hernandez, with whom he allegedly had an illegal sexual relationship. He is charged with one count each of murder, lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains. Burke also faces special circumstance allegations of murder of a witness, murder for financial gain and lying in wait.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo ruled on July 27 that prosecutors have enough evidence for the case against Burke to go to trial. The arraignment hearing marks Burke’s first court appearance since Olmedo’s ruling.
Burke allegedly met Rivas Hernandez through an online fan group when she was 11 years old and he was 16. Prosecutors said Burke and Rivas Hernandez began an illegal sexual relationship in 2024 when she was 13 years old and he was 18. Burke, who is now 21, is accused of murdering the victim in April 2025 after she became angry about him seeing other women and threatened to publicly disclose their relationship. Prosecutors allege the singer murdered Rivas Hernandez because he believed she was going to jeopardize his music career.
Burke allegedly lured Rivas Hernandez to a home he rented in the Hollywood Hills on April 23, 2025, stabbed her to death and dismembered her body. The victim’s remains were found on Sept. 8, 2025, in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke that had been impounded in a Hollywood tow lot.
Burke was arrested on April 26, 2026, and previously pleaded not guilty to all charges. He must appear for a second arraignment now that a judge has allowed the case to move forward. Burke remains jailed without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility.
