Young Israel of North Beverly Hills will present “The Real People of Beverly Hills, 90210,” a community portrait exhibition by Los Angeles artist Karen Lee Fisher, on Sunday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m.
The free exhibition will feature 50 original acrylic portraits of Beverly Hills residents, offering a look at the people who live and work in the community beyond the city’s well-known status. Presented as a community portrait project, the exhibit highlights the individuality and diversity of local residents through Fisher’s artwork.
Fisher is a Los Angeles-based painter and art specialist at Gindi Maimonides Academy. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art and has exhibited work throughout Southern California. Her artwork has also been included in museum and private collections.
“Karen is a beloved member of our own community, and this exhibit is in many ways a portrait of the people sitting in our pews every week,” Rabbi Pini Dunner of Young Israel of North Beverly Hills said. “We’re honored to host a project that turns such a thoughtful eye on the very neighborhood we call home.”
Admission is free, but reservations are required.
Young Israel of North Beverly Hills is located at 9261 Alden Drive.
