The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will begin its 2026 fall film and education programming on Sept. 2, with screenings, retrospectives, workshops and public programs continuing through November. 

Highlights include anniversary screenings of “Marie Antoinette,” “Pan’s Labyrinth,” “The Craft,” “Arrival” and “Carrie,” along with appearances by filmmakers and actors including Sofia Coppola, Guillermo del Toro, Denis Villeneuve, Sissy Spacek, John Carpenter, Isabella Rossellini, Taika Waititi, Jason Bateman and Ellen Burstyn. 

The season opens Sept. 2 with “Marilyn Monroe: Hollywood Icon,” a screening series running through Nov. 21 in conjunction with the museum exhibition of the same name. “In the Glow of Candlelight,” running Sept. 3-14, accompanies the museum’s “Glow: A Cinematic Moodscape” installation. 

Coppola will appear Sept. 13 for a 20th anniversary screening of “Marie Antoinette.” On Sept. 18, Dave Karger and Bateman will participate in a screening of “The King of Comedy,” while artist Tacita Dean and former Museum of Modern Art film curator Laurence Kardish will appear with “The Uncles.” 

A John Carpenter retrospective will run Sept. 26-Oct. 25, with Carpenter scheduled to attend four nights. The series will look back at the filmmaker’s more than five decades of work. 

“I’m proud of these films and the worlds we created, and it’s gratifying to see they’ve found audiences and have taken on lives of their own,” Carpenter said. “It will be great to spend time together to look back at the work that has been such an important part of my life.” 

October programs include the North American premiere of a 3D remaster of “Pan’s Labyrinth” on Oct. 1 with del Toro, a 4K screening of “Resurrection” with Burstyn on Oct. 5 and the museum’s Monster Mash program on Oct. 24. Monster Mash will feature special-effects makeup demonstrations and screenings of “Hotel Transylvania,” “Blade” and a U.S. 4K restoration premiere of “Horror of Dracula.” 

Museum After Dark returns Oct. 31 with a 30th anniversary screening of “The Craft,” featuring Robin Tunney and Rachel True. 

November programs include a 100th anniversary presentation of F.W. Murnau’s “Faust” with a live score by Julianna Barwick on Nov. 1, a 10th anniversary screening of “Arrival” with Villeneuve and Nina Begus on Nov. 2 and a 50th anniversary screening of “Carrie” with Spacek on Nov. 19. 

The Roberto Rossellini series runs Nov. 4-30, with Isabella Rossellini appearing during its first two nights. 

“My father, Roberto Rossellini, had a deep curiosity about cinema, about people and about the world that shaped my own curiosity and understanding of storytelling,” Isabella Rossellini said. “I’m delighted to share his films and to celebrate the legacy he left behind.” 

Film screening tickets are sold separately from general museum admission. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students and children and $8 for museum members. Daytime screenings are $5.
