Thirty young competitors took to the track during the Miniature Derby Car Race at the Beverly Hills Farmers Market on Sunday, July 26, celebrating Parks Make Life Better Month with a day of friendly competition and community fun.
The event featured racers in two age divisions, ages 4-7 and 8-11, who competed with personalized miniature derby cars. The race highlighted the role of parks and recreation programs in bringing residents together while encouraging outdoor activity and family participation.
Beverly Hills Mayor Craig Corman attended the event, announcing the winners and presenting trophies to the top finishers in each division.
In the 4-7 age category, Emma earned first place with Car No. 10, followed by Zac in second place with Car No. 14 and Esme in third place with Car No. 3.
In the 8-11 division, Nawaf captured first place with Car No. 21. Miriam finished second with Car No. 27 and Iona placed third with Car No. 26.
Organizers said every participant brought creativity and enthusiasm to the competition, with racers decorating and personalizing their miniature derby cars before taking to the course. The event emphasized participation and community engagement as much as competition, reflecting the goals of Parks Make Life Better Month, which recognizes the importance of parks and recreation in promoting healthy, active and connected communities.
