The city of West Hollywood and the West Hollywood Transgender Advisory Board have announced plans for the Transgender Community Picnic Day on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 3-6 p.m. on the Vista Lawn at Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd.
At a time when transgender, nonbinary, intersex and other gender-expansive communities across the nation are facing renewed political attacks at the federal level, the city of West Hollywood stands in solidarity and support with the transgender community. The Community Picnic Day offers an opportunity to come together in celebration of diversity and resilience. In West Hollywood, transgender people are valued, visible and integral to the fabric of the city.
Members of the transgender community and allies are invited to bring a blanket, snacks or food. The event will feature networking, free lawn games and a DJ. Additionally, the city will provide a limited amount of free light snacks. Members of the Transgender Advisory Board will interact and listen to the community.
The West Hollywood Transgender Advisory Board is also asking the community to save the date for the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance Ceremony on Nov. 20.
