Members of Boy Scout Troop 184 created a patriotic Independence Day display at the corner of Curson Avenue and Sixth Street in this photograph in the July 6, 1961, issue of the Park Labrea News. The scouts sold flags for $2 that year, celebrating the Fourth of July and raising funds for the troop. The Boy Scouts of America still offers educational opportunities and recreational programs for youth in the Los Angeles area. For information, visit greaterlascouting.org.
