Construction is ongoing around the subway stations on Metro’s D Line subway extension project, with crews repairing streets, curbs and sidewalks.
Repaving will occur over the next two weekends on Gale Drive in Beverly Hills. From Saturday, July 18, at 6 a.m. through Monday, July 20, at 6 a.m., and Saturday, July 25, at 6 a.m. through Monday, July 27, at 6 a.m., North Gale Drive will be closed at Wilshire Boulevard, and Westbound Wilshire Boulevard may be reduced to two lanes between San Vicente Boulevard and Hamilton Drive.
Civil restoration continues in July on the north and south sides of Wilshire Boulevard between Stanley Drive and San Vicente Boulevard. Curb ramps are being replaced at Stanley/Wilshire and Le Doux/Wilshire, and current code-compliant ramps are being installed at 8484 Wilshire Blvd. near Hamilton Drive. Surface demolition at 8383 Wilshire Blvd. may continue in July and pedestrian detours will be implemented. To facilitate the work, Wilshire Boulevard may be reduced to one or two lanes, and Le Doux Road and Stanley Drive may be partially closed at Wilshire Boulevard.
Final paving work in the Wilshire/La Cienega area is planned over three consecutive weekends in August. Segments of Wilshire Boulevard will be fully closed during weekends between San Vicente Boulevard and Willaman Drive. Segments of La Cienega Boulevard may also be closed on weekends between Olympic Boulevard and Burton Way during the repaving project.
Work is also ongoing at the Beverly Drive Station. Sidewalk and lane closures may be in place near the subway station for work on underground appendage structures, which are rooms and passageways adjacent to the main station. Eastbound Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to one lane during overnight hours and access to the southern sidewalk on Wilshire Boulevard will be restricted.
Demolition, curb and gutter repair, underground electrical work and sidewalk restoration work is ongoing along the south side of Wilshire Boulevard from South Reeves Drive to South Beverly Drive and along the east side of South Beverly Drive from Wilshire Boulevard to the alley. Pedestrian access along Wilshire Boulevard and to 9454 Wilshire Blvd. will be maintained via a protected pedestrian walkway behind K-rail barriers adjacent to the existing sidewalk. The work is scheduled for completion on July 24.
Metro is also removing older equipment from the underground systems along Wilshire Boulevard through July 31. The project is necessary to upgrade and maintain infrastructure in the Beverly Hills area. Work is ongoing nightly from 8:15 p.m.-7 a.m. along Wilshire Boulevard between Spalding and El Camino drives. Two lanes of traffic will remain open in each direction on Wilshire Boulevard at all times. However, drivers may encounter temporary lane closures and traffic re-routing onto adjacent side streets.
In Century City, work continues behind K-rail enclosures to construct appendage structures along the station. Potholing work is occurring on the south side of Constellation Boulevard near Avenue of the Stars. Construction is ongoing within work zones around the station area. Temporary sidewalk closures and single-lane traffic operations with flagging are in place for westbound and eastbound traffic on Constellation Boulevard.
