The Skirball Cultural Center will continue its 29th season of Sunset Concerts with a free performance featuring Terrace Martin Plays Miles and Brandee Younger on Thursday, July 23, at 7 p.m. The evening will also include DJ sets by Wyldeflower.

Los Angeles musician, producer and composer Terrace Martin will celebrate the legacy of jazz trumpeter Miles Davis during the performance. Martin has collaborated with artists including Snoop Dogg, Lalah Hathaway, Herbie Hancock and Kendrick Lamar, earning Grammy nominations for his work on Lamar’s albums “good kid, m.A.A.d city” and “To Pimp a Butterfly.”

Martin’s solo work blends jazz, R&B and hip-hop, with releases including “Velvet Portraits,” “Drones” and “Fine Tune.” He also leads the Grammy-nominated group Dinner Party and operates the Sounds of Crenshaw label.

Joining Martin is harpist, composer and bandleader Brandee Younger, whose music combines jazz, classical training, R&B and hip-hop influences. Her 2021 album “Somewhere Different” earned a Grammy nomination for the composition “Beautiful Is Black,” making her the first Black female solo artist nominated in the Best Instrumental Composition category. Her 2023 album “Brand New Life” received the 2024 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Jazz Album, and she released “Gadabout Season” in 2025.

The Sunset Concerts series continues through Aug. 6. Upcoming performances include Cory Henry and The Funk Apostles with Katalyst and DJ J.Period on July 16; Tortoise with Kassa Overall and DJ Dave Orlando, also known as Boss Harmz, on July 30; and Annie and the Caldwells with The Campbell Brothers and DJ Sonrisita on Aug. 6.
