Two of classical music’s most exciting international talents make their Hollywood Bowl debuts when Spanish conductor Roberto González-Monjas and 27-year-old Japanese pianist Mao Fujita join the LA Phil for “Mozart & Brahms” on Thursday, July 16, at 8 p.m.

The program features Fujita performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 19, followed by Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 under the direction of González-Monjas.

González-Monjas reunites with the LA Phil for his first performance on the Hollywood Bowl stage. One of Europe’s most sought-after conductors, he currently serves as chief conductor of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and the Musikkollegium Winterthur Switzerland. González-Monjas is also music director of the Galician Symphony Orchestra and artistic director of Iberacademy Colombia. He was recently appointed principal guest conductor of the Orchestre de Paris with his tenure commencing during the 2027-28 season.

González-Monjas will lead Brahms’ fourth and final symphony, a work known for tragic beauty, emotional depth and a profound sense of reflection.

Pianist Fujita joins the LA Phil for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 19, a spirited and rhythmically vibrant work that features what may be the most complex finale Mozart ever wrote.

Widely regarded as a leading pianist of his generation, Fujita first gained international attention after winning Silver Medal at the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Competition and has since performed with many of the world’s foremost orchestras.

Together, the works showcase two very different sides of the classical repertoire, from Mozart’s youthful brilliance and inventiveness to the emotional depth and grandeur of Brahms’ final symphonic statement.
