The Beverly Hills City Council has selected Jamie Bumia as the city’s new director of community services following a competitive recruitment process. Bumia will begin her new role on Aug. 17.

Bumia joins the city from Walnut in the San Gabriel Valley, where she has served as community services director since 2024. In that role, she oversees recreation, facilities, community programs, public information and community outreach. She previously served as Walnut’s community services superintendent beginning in 2021 and was promoted to deputy community services director in 2023.

“I am pleased to welcome Jamie to Beverly Hills,” City Manager Ryan Gohlich said. “Jamie’s diverse skillset across several cities has prepared her well to lead our dedicated community services team and the award-winning programs that make Beverly Hills so special. I look forward to her joining our executive team.”

As Beverly Hills’ director of community services, Bumia will oversee the department’s administrative support, library, park rangers, arts and culture and recreation and parks divisions. She succeeds Stephanie Harris, who was recently promoted to assistant city manager.

Before joining Walnut, Bumia held positions with the cities of Monrovia, Claremont and Fontana.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of La Verne. She also serves on the board of the California Park & Recreation Society and is a member of the Municipal Management Association of Southern California.
