The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County will host Pride in Bloom on Saturday, June 6, from noon to 5 p.m., offering an all-ages celebration that combines natural science, arts programming and community engagement.
The event is the fourth installment in the museum’s Partners in Commons series, which brings community organizations to NHM Commons, the museum’s community-focused wing and gathering space.
Co-created with Drag Arts Lab and sponsored by the Los Angeles Public Library, the event will feature “Natural HERstory: A Drag Musical,” presented at 1 pm. and 3 p.m. in the NHM Commons Theater. Led by entertainer Pickle, executive director of Drag Arts Lab, the performance explores themes of transformation and resilience through nature-inspired drag performances. Attendance is limited, and wristbands will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning one hour before each show.
Additional activities will be offered throughout the day. A Pride Flag Scavenger Hunt in the theater lobby invites participants to learn about the history and symbolism of the Pride flag through connections to items in the museum’s collections. A Self-Expression Station in the NHM Commons Plaza will provide hands-on activities for visitors of all ages while supplies last.
The event will also include a mini-resource fair featuring community organizations including the Los Angeles Public Library, Rainbow Labs, Allies for Every Child, Great Autos and The Friends of Ballona Wetlands.
Pride in Bloom is free for museum members and included with paid museum admission.
The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is located at 900 Exposition Blvd.
