Art Beyond the Glass will return for its 14th Los Angeles event on June 28 at Catch One nightclub, bringing together more than 100 bartenders who will serve cocktails and showcase artistic talents in a fundraiser benefiting the Hollywood Fringe Festival.

The annual event highlights the creative pursuits of bartenders outside of their work behind the bar, featuring artwork, photography, live music, DJs and other performances. Since its founding, Art Beyond the Glass has raised more than $250,000 for arts-focused nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles and across the country.

Produced by Claire Mallett, the event draws participation from bartenders representing bars throughout the region. Mallett said the festival remains unique in Los Angeles as an annual industry gathering that welcomes both hospitality professionals and the public.

“I am consistently in awe of the level of imagination and execution of the bar teams each year,” Mallett said. “The industry’s dedication to this event is outstanding.”

Art Beyond the Glass was co-founded by Daniel Djang and Zahra Bates in 2011. Organizers describe it as a celebration of bartender artistry, providing a platform for creative expression through visual arts, music and performance.

“It’s hard to believe that what began as a casual conversation at a bar in November 2011 has grown into this extraordinary event,” Djang said. “The cocktail creativity and artistic talent of the bar community in L.A. and beyond never ceases to amaze me.”

The event will be held for the fifth consecutive year at Catch One, the historic Pico Boulevard nightclub originally opened by Jewel Thais-Williams in 1973 as Jewel’s Catch One. The venue includes multiple indoor and outdoor spaces across two floors.

This year’s beneficiary, the Hollywood Fringe Festival, began in 2010 as Hatchery Arts and has grown into an open-access performing arts festival featuring hundreds of productions by local, national and international artists and companies.

Art Beyond the Glass is also partnering again with Another Round Another Rally, a nonprofit organization that provides financial support and resources for hospitality workers. Co-founder Travis Nass said the organization is proud to continue its relationship with the event.

Admission includes cocktail samples, access to an art gallery, entertainment and food offerings. Attendees will also have opportunities to purchase artwork created by bartenders, enter raffles and bid on silent auction items including artwork, photography and rare spirits.

Organizers said all proceeds from the event will benefit the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
