Dozens of Beverly Hills Police Department officers, including a S.W.A.T. team, swarmed the 200 block of South Beverly Drive around 12:40 p.m. on May 5 after the BHPD received a call about a man with a gun at a Chipotle restaurant. BHPD Lt. Kevin Orth said it was a “swatting” call in which someone made a false report. Officers conducted an extensive search of the area out of an abundance of caution before determining the report was a hoax. The street was cleared around 2:30 p.m. The incident and the identity of the caller remain under investigation.
