On Thursday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m., Writers Bloc presents a conversation with Steve Ross, a distinguished professor of history at USC, known for books on the influence of Hollywood in American politics and culture, as well as gripping books on extremism in America and in Los Angeles specifically. Ross is the author of “Hitler in Los Angeles,” as well as his new book, “The Secret War Against Hate: American Resistance to Antisemitism and White Supremacy.” Ross exposes shocking domestic terrorism against Jews and Blacks in American cities. As he did in “Hitler in Los Angeles,” Ross focuses on a group of quiet and unsung heroes who infiltrated and suppressed white supremacist groups during and in the immediate aftermath of World War II, in conversation with L.A. Times columnist and podcast host Patt Morrison.
