Re “BHPD looks to muffle loud exhausts,” April 2 issue

I am glad that the Beverly Hills Police Department is finally taking action against those driving vehicles with excessively loud and illegally modified exhaust systems.

Many high-end production vehicles emit too much noise when they leave the factory. So do certain Mustang models.

And BHPD should take action against loud motorcycles, too. Officers don’t need any special equipment to detect motorcycles with unlawful exhausts. If the exhaust on a motorcycle manufactured after 2013 doesn’t have an EPA sticker on it, presumption of violation can be made.
