Street repairs continue in mid-April along Wilshire Boulevard near new Metro subway stations at Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega. The D Line extension is scheduled to open between Wilshire/Western and Wilshire/La Cienega on May 8, providing service to and from Wilshire Center, the Miracle Mile and eastern Beverly Hills.
Through April, crews will continue civil restoration on the north and south sides of Wilshire Boulevard between Stanley Drive and San Vicente Boulevard. Curb ramps are being replaced at Wilshire/ Stanley and Wilshire/Le Doux, and at 8484 Wilshire Blvd. Surface demolition is also planned at 8383 Wilshire Blvd. To facilitate the work, Wilshire Boulevard may be reduced to one or two lanes for two-to-three-week periods. The closures will be implemented on individual blocks of Wilshire Boulevard between Stanley Drive and San Vicente Boulevard. Monitoring instrument removal may also occur within the street.
Crews are relocating fire department connections in April from the front of the Wilshire/La Cienega Station and Gale Yard. Westbound Wilshire Boulevard may be reduced to two lanes between San Vicente and La Cienega boulevards on weekdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and on weekends from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. The sidewalks on the north side of Wilshire Boulevard between Gale Drive and La Cienega Boulevard may be closed.
Final paving of the intersection of Wilshire/La Cienega is planned this summer over a series of weekends, requiring a full closure of the intersection. Crews will repave Wilshire and La Cienega boulevards and segments of side streets within the project area.
At the Beverly Drive station, crews will conduct demolition, curb, gutter, underground electrical and sidewalk restoration work from April 17-June 17 along the south side of Wilshire Boulevard, progressing west from South Crescent Drive to South Cañon Drive. Work will be completed in segments, requiring sidewalk closures. A temporary pathway adjacent to the existing sidewalk will be open for pedestrians and access to business entrances will be maintained.
Intermittent closures of The Sixty Hotel driveway will be required for demolition, conduit installation and concrete placement. A temporary ramp will be installed after driveway demolition to maintain vehicle access from Wilshire Boulevard to the hotel. Access to The Sixty Hotel garage through the alley entrance on South Cañon Drive will be coordinated as needed, with wayfinding signage provided for guests and visitors. Protective measures will be implemented in front of businesses in the area.
Work is also occurring at the Century City station, where deck removal is ongoing in the third of four 14-day phases along Constellation Boulevard. Crews are working within the intersection of Constellation Boulevard and Avenue of the Stars through April 19. The intersection remains fully closed, with no turns from either direction.
From April 20- May 3, the work zone moves to Constellation Boulevard from Avenue of the Stars to Solar Way. Access to the driveway to 1999 Avenue of the Stars, and a dedicated lane to the Fairmount Century Plaza Hotel, will be closed.
