Beverly Hills High School’s MorTorq Robotics Team advanced to the finals and earned a second-place finish at the FIRST Robotics California District Aerospace Valley Event in Lancaster, marking a standout achievement in the team’s 2026 competition season.

Competing against top teams from across the region, MorTorq was selected to join an alliance with Team 687 (California Academy of Mathematics & Science) and Team 2073 (Pleasant Grove High School).

The alliance advanced through the elimination rounds and competed in the final matches, securing a second-place finish overall.

“This result reflects the work our students have put in all season,” BHHS robotics teacher and coach John Castle said. “From one competition to the next, they continue to grow, collaborate and represent Beverly Hills High School with focus and determination.”

The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges students to design, build and compete with industrial-sized robots in a fast-paced, team-based environment that emphasizes engineering, problem solving and collaboration.
