Valentine’s Day had its ups and downs in this photograph in the Feb. 20, 1992, issue of the Beverly Press and Park Labrea News. In honor of Valentine’s Day, students at St. James Wilshire Elementary School participated in “Jump Rope for the Heart,” a charity fundraiser for the American Heart Association. Sixth-grade teacher Judith Hurt Cobean showed her jumping skills to students Alexandra Campbell, left, Elizabeth Parks, Elizabeth Twerdahl and Tracy Clifford. Students in the third through sixth grades took turns jumping rope for two hours to raise funds during the benefit.
