Rolling Robots Camp, an afterschool learning center offering robotics and STEM programs, is hosting weekly camps this summer to promote open creativity, deep exploration and project-based learning.
Founded by ex-aerospace engineers Bing Jiang and Dr. George Kirkman, Rolling Robots is home to world-class robotics competition teams from Los Angeles. During weekly summer camps, children ages 5-15 are invited to experience Rolling Robots’ camps in a non-competition format.
Specifically curated in small age groups, campers learn to use technical tools, the engineering process and creative thinking through hands-on projects. Camps start as early as June 1 and sessions run one week at a time, Monday through Friday, with morning, afternoon and full-day camps. Lunch hour is complimentary when campers register for full-day camps for the week.
Junior robot builders assemble take-home robots every day at camp, while little engineers learn about different engineering professions and complete a project. For ages 7-8, campers learn about LEGO Robotics. Campers ages 8-12 and older learn VEX IQ Build and Code, 3D Printing Design and Python Coding, as well as CAD, C++ Coding and VEX V5 Robotics Bootcamp, preparing them to join the competition teams.
Campers wishing to continue building robots throughout the year can join robotics competition teams and build competition robots while learning strategies for competition.
Rolling Robots offers programs at 2951 S Sepulveda Blvd., as well as Pasadena, Palos Verdes and Irvine. For information, visit rollingrobots.com.
