Metro is inviting members of the public to apply for two openings on the Measure M Independent Taxpayer Oversight Committee. The committee plays an important role in providing independent oversight of Measure M funds and helping ensure transportation investments across Los Angeles County stay on track and aligned with voter intent. Metro is especially interested in applicants with professional experience as a retired federal or state judge, or as a licensed architect or engineer with a background in transportation design or construction. Committee members serve five-year terms and meet a few times each year.

Los Angeles County voters approved Measure M with 71.15% support in 2016. The no sunset half-cent sales tax measure funds projects to ease traffic, repair local streets and sidewalks, expand public transportation, earthquake retrofit bridges and subsidize transit fares for students, seniors and persons with disabilities.

Measure M partially funds many Metro projects, as well as making funding available to local jurisdictions via the Metro Subregional Program and Metro Active Transportation, Transit and First/Last Mile Program.
