A new tiki bar and restaurant is poised to open this fall, bringing a unique hideaway for tiki connoisseurs to Hermosa Beach’s lineup of bars and restaurants along the iconic Pier Avenue. Helmed by the team of hospitality veterans responsible for refurbishing and launching South Bay favorites like The Hula Hula Room, Eat at Joe’s, Paddy O’Brien’s Irish Pub and The Bounty Room, the latest concept is an ambitious new venture aimed at capturing the tiki spirit. Tiki Kai will pay homage to Don the Beachcomber and Trader Vic’s with a cocktail menu created by mixologist Kyle Rioux, served well into the night. Cocktails will be complemented by a dinner menu meant to evoke travels throughout the Pacific, served in the posh yet playful tiki palace. Lunch and brunch service will follow soon after opening to be enjoyed on the lush patio amid ocean breezes, or in the dining room.
Tiki Kai will welcome the purists and the curious. Cocktails will hit on classic Mai Tais like “The O.G. ‘44”, along with categories of stirred, shaken, frozen and shared drinks for “Mates and Crew.” Each cocktail will be carefully crafted with respect for traditional recipes and small-batch producers.
The bar and restaurant will be open for dinner and cocktails from 4-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 4 p.m.-midnight Friday and Saturday and 4-10 p.m. on Sunday, with lunch and brunch service to follow.
Tiki Kai is located at 73 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach. For information visit tikikai.com.
