Snibbs, the cutting-edge work shoe brand, kicks off its first-ever chef-designed collaboration on Oct. 17 with renowned James Beard Award-winning chef Nancy Silverton of Los Angeles’ Mozza Restaurant Group and Netflix’s “Chef’s Table” fame. “The Nancy” ($149) taps into the clog renaissance and is available for pre-sale now through Snibbs’ website. A “utility chic” shoe, it marries Silverton’s signature sense of style and artistry with the function, comfort and non-slip durability of Snibbs’ original chef-approved clog.
Silverton and her Mozza Restaurant Group Culinary Director Elizabeth Hong were involved every “step” of the way, shaping the vision and ensuring every decision balanced both style and function. Just as Snibbs’ “Spacecloud” and “Pro” expanded the boundaries of what work shoes could be, “The Nancy” redefines culinary footwear, and is a fashionable, tough shoe for anyone on their feet all day.
“When it came to choosing our first chef collaborator, the first person I thought of who had the most style in the culinary industry was Nancy. It’s a dream come true,” said Snibbs co-founder and chef Daniel Shemtob. “This shoe was a labor of love and years in the making, that builds upon the DNA of our original clog with Nancy’s distinct point of view and elevated materials. Working alongside Nancy and Liz pushed both the shoe and Snibbs into new places and new territories.”
“For me, style in the kitchen and in my wardrobe are inseparable. If I don’t feel good in what I’m wearing, I don’t feel good about what I’m cooking,” Silverton said. “With Snibbs, we created a shoe that brings those worlds together. It’s a statement piece that reflects my style, but it’s also highly functional. I love the feel of the materials, how effortless it is to clean, and the subtle heel for both style and support. And to top it all off, working with the Snibbs team has been such a pleasure, and that just makes this collaboration all the better.”
The design inspiration ultimately began with a dish – Silverton’s handmade pasta at Mozza. Snibbs creative director Brett Golliff translated the relationship of pasta interacting with sauce into the outsole’s unique and innovative non-slip design with “rubber that grips when you need traction, but releases to stay functional in wet environments.”
The women’s-leaning clog comes in an initial size run of 5-11 and in three colors that connect to the world-famous chef: “Sage” – bold and colorful green to reflect Silverton’s personal style; “Porcini” – subtle depth, rustic yet refined cream and a nod to Italian craftsmanship; and “Tellicherry” – service-ready black, elevated with jewel-like pops to reflect Silverton’s leadership.
