Members of the public can purchase tickets for the Hollywood Queer Short Film Festival, which will take place Oct. 4-5 at Founders MCC Church.

The HQSFF theme is “VISIBILITY IS RESISTANCE,” which acknowledges “the considerable efforts being made by the current national regime to take the whole world back to a time when all manner of queer expression was suppressed and we were practically invisible,” said festival director Jim Hoffman. “But we’re not going anywhere.”

Featured films include “Lesbians in Boystown,” “Good Service” and “Match Dot Mom.”

Hoffman said the theme is especially pertinent given current federal actions against the LGBTQ+ community.

On Oct. 4, the festival will screen “Lesbians in Boystown,” in which award-winning filmmaker Betsy Kalin explores a world that has existed in tandem with the better-known male-dominated image of West Hollywood since its founding.

The weekend will continue with a slate of films regarding current political issues and the LGBTQ+ community. The festival will conclude with an afterparty at Hi Tops Los Feliz on Oct. 5.
