West Hollywood is getting a new breakfast joint – or rather, a replacement breakfast joint. On Oct. 25, just in time for weekend brunch, Breakfast Company is opening on Santa Monica Boulevard in the spot where Breakfast Republic used to be.
The changeover happened quickly. On Sept. 1, the popular Breakfast Republic closed despite lines often forming outside the restaurant on Saturdays and Sundays. Now, less than two months later, the change of one simple word in the title will craft a whole new morning spirit at the site, according to its owner Rise & Shine Hospitality Group – which owns both brands. Rise & Shine founder and CEO Johan Engman said that “Company” fit in better with WeHo than “Republic.”
“Although Breakfast Republic had gained a good following, we believe that the vibe and energy that Breakfast Company brings will resonate even more with the neighborhood,” Engman said. “West Hollywood has no shortage of energy and fun experiences, and we hope to build on that even more.”
The “Company” branding already has two San Diego locations, and Engman explained that Rise & Shine “couldn’t be happier with the feedback” they had gotten from a “growing group of loyal customers.”
The “soft opening” on Oct. 25 and 26 will donate 100% of all food and beverage sales to Project Angel Food, the stalwart Los Angeles nonprofit that provides medically tailored meals to those facing critical and life-threatening illnesses.
“It is important for us to have a meaningful impact on the neighborhoods and communities we serve,” Engman said.
Engman added that the design would be the biggest difference, but that the location would have its own “fun and creative menu,” as well as a full liquor license, allowing “for further creativity on the drinks side.”
Among the menu highlights include breakfast favorites like Japanese spicy chicken sando, sweet chili shrimp and grits, fried rice bennie, the Cali burrito and chilaquiles suizos. Guests can also enjoy a wide variety of waffle options such as s’mores, buttermilk cornmeal and orange thyme, as well as various flavors of pancakes like tiramisu and banana bread. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. French toasts, eggs and coffee selections are just a few more options on the extensive menu.
“No matter what, you won’t go home hungry,” Engman teased. “We can’t wait to serve our sweet, savory and unique dishes in a comfortable yet elegant space,” Engman said. “When the sun rises over Santa Monica Boulevard, we hope all Angelenos will start their day with us.”
Breakfast Company is located at 7141 Santa Monica Blvd. For information, visit breakfast-company/west-hollywood.
