The Beverly Hills Community Services Department invites the public to “The Great Outdoors at Greystone” on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Greystone Mansion and Gardens, 905 Loma Vista Drive.
As September marks the anniversary of Greystone’s designation as a public park, the event celebrates nature in the estate gardens above Sunset Boulevard with a full day of activities for visitors of all ages.
Greystone was dedicated as a city of Beverly Hills park in September of 1971. September also marks the month the Doheny family moved into Greystone Mansion in 1928. Since the city acquired the estate, it has offered a tranquil 18 acres of green space minutes from the city’s bustle.
To celebrate Greystone’s 54th anniversary as a public park, “The Great Outdoors at Greystone” will highlight healthy living – physically, mentally, soulfully and creatively – through a wide range of activities, including live music, custom poetry, Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) demonstrations, art projects and sustainability information.
Fifteen poems will be displayed along Cypress Lane, culminating with a poetry reading at 3:15 p.m. An open call yielded over 50 poem submissions this year.
Limited onsite parking is available; carpooling is encouraged. A shuttle will operate from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. to transport people between activities and entrances. Admission is free and advance reservations are not required.
