Re “Residents still in the dark about streetlight repairs,” April 30 issue

The Beverly Press reported on street light outages caused by copper wire thefts in the Fairfax District/Miracle Mile last April. Four months later and the problem is growing even worse, with more neighborhoods going dark, and no repairs being done.

Councilmember Yaroslavsky’s office promised that repairs would be made by late August. August is over, and Yaroslavsky’s promise was not kept. Our neighborhoods are unsafe, and residents are now having to use flashlights coming and going to their cars at night, and are scared and tired of the excuses.Mid City West Neighborhood Council has yet to even address the problem. Where are our elected officials? Where is the LAPD? How many residents will have to be victimized before this becomes a priority?
