Many people in the community are mourning longtime Hancock Park resident and Larchmont Village businesswoman Liz Reilly, founder of the Larchmont Boulevard boutique Flicka, who died on July 23 at the age of 77.

“My mother and founder of Flicka passed at 7:23 [p.m.] on July 23. She opened the store in 1992 with my sister Lisa Sato with great passion, creativity, enthusiasm and passion for what she was creating in her beloved Larchmont Village,” Reilly’s daughter Kristen Sato said in a message to the community posted on social media. “Most will remember her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, beautiful buying, thoughtful gift wrapping and of course, her iconic windows. She was also an incredible daughter, sister, mother, friend, homemaker, artist, hostess and life of the party. Her superpower was making everything around her beautiful. Thank you all for the years that you supported her and our store. Please keep her fondly in your memories.”

Sato, who has owned and operated Flicka since 2013, said her mother was always very creative and the clothing boutique was a source of great pride. Born in Sweden, Reilly came to the United States as a youth and graduated from Los Angeles High School. Sato said Reilly moved to Hancock Park in 1976.

“When it came to being creative, she just had a magic about her,” Sato added.

Reilly died peacefully at home with family and friends by her side, Sato said. She was preceded in death by her husband John Reilly, and is survived by daughters Kristen and Lisa Sato, and Caitlin Reilly.
