The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a blaze shortly after 4 p.m. on June 17 in a commercial building at 8217 W. Beverly Blvd. The split-level structure has one story toward the front and two stories in the back. Fire was spreading from a first story window at the rear of the building to the second floor when LAFD personnel arrived.
Firefighters conducted a transitional attack, applying water from outside while crews prepared to fight flames inside the building. Forty-six firefighters extinguished the blaze in 20 minutes, preventing the flames from extending to the second floor. One person was evaluated for a minor burn injury. No other occupants were located inside the building and no further injuries were reported.
The cause remains under investigation.
