Metro is continuing construction of the D Line subway extension project in late May at many locations along Wilshire Boulevard. Motorists can expect lane closures around the subway stations at Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax, Wilshire/La Cienega, Wilshire/Rodeo and Century City/Constellation. At the eastern end of the project, the Wilshire/Western and Wilshire/Normandie stations have closed through July 25 as the existing subway line is connected to the new line. The segment of the D Line from Wilshire/Western to Wilshire/La Cienega is expected to open this fall.

A “bus bridge” is running between the Wilshire/Western and Wilshire/Vermont stations, where passengers can access the D Line. Passengers are encouraged to use Bus Shuttle 855 or Metro Lines 720 or 20 in the area. Trains on the B Line, which parallels the D Line between the Wilshire/Vermont station and Union Station, are running every eight minutes during the station closures.

Continuing through June, civil restoration will be ongoing in and around the intersections of Wilshire Boulevard and Western, La Brea and Fairfax avenues. Crews are repairing streets, curbs and sidewalks. The work will require upcoming full weekend closures of the intersections. Wilshire/Fairfax will be closed from June 13-16, Wilshire/Western will be closed from June 20-23 and Wilshire/La Brea will be closed from June 27-30. The closures run from Friday at 9 p.m. through Monday at 6 a.m.

At Wilshire/La Cienega, work continues at the subway station site and in the surrounding area. Crews are building a new bus pad on the east side of La Cienega Boulevard just north of Wilshire Boulevard, requiring a closure of the curb lane through May 27. A K-rail work zone is implemented on the north side of Wilshire Boulevard between San Vicente and La Cienega boulevards. Two lanes in each direction will remain open on Wilshire Boulevard in the area.

In Beverly Hills, K-rail enclosures remain in place along the northern and southern curb lanes of Wilshire Boulevard near Wilshire/Rodeo. Work in the zones supports ongoing station construction and facilitates appendage structure and sidewalk construction in May. Two lanes are maintained along Wilshire Boulevard between Beverly and Crescent drives. Left turns are restricted from westbound Wilshire Boulevard to South Cañon Drive.

In Century City, crews are preparing to remove deck panels and repair the street surface along Constellation Boulevard in July and August between Century Park East and Solar Way. Work is ongoing on appendage structures and will continue after deck removal in the fourth quarter of 2025. Construction is also occurring within current traffic closures around the station area and lane closures may be in place in the area.
