A manuscript with writing and drawings by Leonardo da Vinci was shown in the May 14, 1981, issue of the Park Labrea News. The manuscript, which was approximately 470 years old at the time, was part of a traveling exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The document is from the Codex Leicester (also known as the Codex Hammer), which includes notes and drawings by da Vinci on a wide range of subjects including astronomy, geology, the moon and the motion of tides. The exhibition was displayed in LACMA’s Ahmanson Building before heading to the Royal Academy of Arts in London later that year.
