The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Bureau is investigating an early morning burglary on May 17 at The Woods cannabis dispensary and consumption lounge on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood.

Authorities believe it may involve a crew connected to a second burglary two nights earlier at a dispensary on Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica. Lt. Fanny Lapkin, with the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, said the case was transferred to the Major Crimes Bureau, which oversees investigations involving multiple locations and jurisdictions.

The break-in at The Woods, co-owned by actor Woody Harrelson and comedian and television host Bill Maher, occurred around 4:30 a.m. on May 17. The entire incident occurred within minutes and was captured by security cameras inside and in front of the business. A car parked in front and a group of five male suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts exited and smashed a glass front door. Once inside, the suspects ransacked the store and placed merchandise in bags before returning to the car and fleeing.

The burglary on May 15 occurred at the ERBA Markets dispensary in the 12000 block of West Pico Boulevard. The Angeles Police Department responded to the break-in, which was committed by three or four male suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts. A security guard was present and fired a shot at the suspects as they attempted to break in, causing them to flee.

No injuries were reported and no further updates were available on the burglaries as of May 28.
