The Beverly Hills Police Department is investigating a hate incident on April 26 in which a male suspect called a business in the 400 block of North Crescent Drive and made antisemitic remarks.

Lt. Kevin Orth said the caller made racially disparaging remarks but did not specifically target or name anyone. The person who received the call immediately reported it to the police department, which opened an investigation. Orth declined to provide the name of the business and said the investigation is ongoing.

“I can’t speak to this specific incident but calls like this to workplaces are not unusual. It’s very concerning,” he added. “It was not specific to a particular person or individual. But it’s better to report it. That way we can document it and look into who is making the call.”

Beverly Hills Vice Mayor John Mirisch said the incident is unsettling and highlights the importance of taking steps to fight antisemitism and ensure the community is protected.

“It’s one more incident of antisemitic Jewish racism that we are dealing with in our city and around the world right now, and it highlights why we need to take it seriously,” Mirisch said. “Our goal is for Beverly Hills to be the safest city in the world, and that means being safe from antisemitic bullying.
