In honor of Jewish American Heritage Month, the Beverly Vista Middle School Jewish Culture Club hosted a celebration and conversation with Avraham Yarden, a proud warrior of Israel during British rule, on May 15.
Through powerful firsthand stories of courage and resilience, Yarden offered students a deeply personal lens into Jewish history. The experience reminded students that education isn’t only in textbooks, it’s in the voices of those who lived it.
“Hearing directly from someone who shaped history helps bring learning to life in ways no classroom alone can,” BHUSD Superintendent Alex Cherniss said. “We’re proud of our students for creating spaces that foster understanding, connection and cultural appreciation.”
